Giving back to the community is at the core of Praytell’s mission, and 2020 marks the 6th year of Passion Project, an initiative where we donate pro bono services and volunteer hours to non-profit organizations. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all our lives but we’re still here to help those in need while staying home.
Whether it’s supporting elders with handwritten letters or offering professional mentorship to students, we’ve pulled together a list of ways to assist those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Take a look, get inspired by the possibilities, and join us in taking a moment to consider how we can help each other in our communities, both local and beyond!
Love For The Elderly: Support elders fighting loneliness with a handwritten letter. These letters are distributed amongst senior communities across the globe including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospices, and senior centers.
Meals On Wheels: Sign up to be a senior chat volunteer where you contact elderly neighbors over the phone for a weekly call.
Adopt a Grandparent: CHD Living, a London-based group of care facilities, is helping combat loneliness during the pandemic by pairing volunteers with an elderly based on your common interests for a video call.
Heights and Hills: A Brooklyn-based organization which provides support or medical attention during the pandemic. You can easily help by volunteering to check in with them over the phone. Virtual training and call scripts are provided for volunteers.
iCouldBe: An online student mentorship program where you dedicate one hour each week for the school year to kids who need extra assistance with resources and tutoring. Don’t worry, no experience needed — you’re given structured engaging online activities and conversation prompts. Sign up now to be a mentor for the coming school year!
Career Village: Sign up to be a volunteer and answer career questions from students who are looking to work in that field. The youth still need career advice, especially in these uncertain times.
